Lisvane & Llanishen Reservoirs: Digital Reminiscence Project

Much has been written and recorded in a variety of forms and data sets around the journey of the reservoirs from being drained to provide land for proposed housing to the successful campaign to save them as a community resource.

Significantly less has been recorded in terms of historic information around the presence of the reservoirs in the locality, their use and individual and community memories of the spaces. It has been decided that a project should be mobilised to compile a digital repository that can be accessed remotely, with or without support by individuals and groups interested in the past, present or future of the reservoirs.

The Reservoirs’ Digital Reminiscence Project aims to record, store, and share memories, photographs, and reminiscences from the local community about Llanishen and Lisvane reservoirs and to make them readily available online as a community resource. The project is led by Dŵr Cymru / Welsh Water and the Friends of Cardiff Reservoirs, supported by People’s Collection Wales (PCW) and Digital Communities Wales.
