Jacqueline Winter

This interviewee talks about the Redifusion set her parents hired which could receive only BBC, and her satisfaction at being able to go next door to her grandmother who owned a set which received ITV too. Speaking of the most influential events on television she notes the shooting of JFK and royal occasions. She remembers watching the Investiture feeling it was historically important and states her opinion that we are lucky to have a royal family. She discusses the Miners' Strike and Scargill's incendiary appearances. She watched the Rugby matches of the 70s at home with her mother while her husband and his friends went to the match. She remembers Gareth Edwards' tries and extra things to do with the games, like the performances and songs of Max Boyce. She refers to Aberfan, and seeing the Queen and George Thomas visiting and the rush on the roads to Merthyr as people flowed in to the valley to try to help.
