This interviewee did not buy a television set for a long time as he was worried about the effect it would have on his children's language; looking back he feels he was right to worry. As he discusses the Investiture he speaks of the split in his family because of his objection to it. The 79 and 97 referendums are discussed, and he remembers he considered leaving Wales following the 79 disappointment; he was overjoyed with the 97 campaign success. As he discusses S4C he considers Gwynfor Evans' stance and the worries of eminent Welsh people such as Jennie Eirian Davies and Jac L Williams about isolating Welsh to one channel only. Remembering the Miners' Strike he notes that support for the miners lessened following the scenes of violence on television and the government plan to divide and rule.
