Description

An extract from Morris, L., 1748. Plans of Harbours, Bars, Bays and Roads in St. George's Channel. The extract (page 43) describes fishing at Skerry Lighthouse.

The extract reads as follows: ”Here Sea-Tech, Whiting-Pollacks, and other Fish, are taken with Angling Rods from the Cliffs of the Sea Rocks; and in Summer-time Blackings or Cole-fish are in such Plenty here, that the Light-men standing upon the Point of a Rock have frequently taken them up with Baskets, as they passed by.”
