Description

This is a personal article written from my own journey into the rich and often overlooked history of Kidwelly. What began as a single question about a wartime plane crash led me down a path of discovery—one that revealed nearly 900 years of resilience, struggle, and community spirit rooted in this small Welsh town.

In this reflection, I explore the story of Princess Gwenllian and her defiant stand in 1136, the rise of Kidwelly Castle, the impact of the Industrial Revolution, and the deep spiritual life shaped by religious revivals. I also share how my connection to the town’s war memorials and chapels deepened my understanding of the people who came before us.

This article is not just about facts—it’s about connection. It’s about seeing Kidwelly not just as a place, but as a story still being written. I hope others will feel inspired to look more closely at their own history, just as I have with mine.
