Evan Davies, born in Treboeth, Swansea around 1897, served in the Royal Navy. At the end of the war his ship was sent on an expedition to the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. He sent this postcard, with an image of the banks of the Bosphorus (Istanbul) at Christmastime 1918 to Eluned Hughes (sister of his sweetheart and future wife, Mary Annie Hughes).
