Description

Maes-y-Garnedd is probably early 17th century, and was built as a storeyed, end-chimney house, with internal cross passage and two heated rooms to the ground floor. With only minor modification, this layout has been retained, though the house was altered in the 18th or 19th century by raising the roofline. In the later 19th century an agricultural range was added in-line. The house was extended to the rear in the late 20th century. Internally there are stone newel stairs, also wooden stairs. The birthplace of John Jones (1597-1660), one of the signatories of Charles I's death warrant.
