Herbert Blake is seated in the middle of the centre row. The POWs wear a mix of uniforms and footwear, some with whistle chains or watch chains, and lanyards. The postcard was sent to Herbert's sister, Annie Moore (living in Bolsover). Inscription in pencil reads: "8673 Pte H Blake, 2nd Suffolk Regiment, Gefangenenlager, Doeberitz, Deutschland". [Gefangenen Lager Doeberitz, Doeberitz prison camp, is about eight miles west of Berlin.] Stamped "15 Doeberitz Gepruft F.A. [Gepruft - examined by censor]"; "Kriegsgefangenensondung" [POW] and "London F.S. PAID Jul 7 17".
