Description

Photograph of part of the Hidden Now Heard Exhibition at Swansea Museum about Hensol Castle Hospital. In this photograph you can see a visitor engaging with a case of artefacts on display. In the case you can see a scrapbook of photographs from Hensol and some embroidery work which would have been undertaken as a form of occupational therapy for the 'high grade' residents. Residents were categorised as either 'high' or 'low' grade, high being more able and low being less so. High-grade residents were granted more freedoms to attend industrial and occupational therapy and to roam the grounds of the hospital. Low-grade residents were seen as much less able to take part in these activities and as such spent most of their days in day rooms, watching television or listening to the radio.
