The Centenary Exhibition for the Cardiff Naturalists' Society was held at the National Museum Wales, Cardiff in 1967. This is one of a group of 15 photographs showing displays on geology, biology, and architecture, as well as a photographic section. The images were captured by Idris Bowen, a well-known Cardiff photographer who studied insects and plants, a prominent member of the Cardiff Camera Club.

The Cardiff Naturalists' Society was established in 1867 in Cardiff, Glamorgan, on the initiative of Robert Drane, F.L.S. (1833-1914). The society is the longest established wildlife organisation in the area and promotes the study of natural history, geology and the natural sciences. The Society held many lectures and talks on a variety of topics, as well as field trips and exhibitions. They have strong links with the National Museum Wales in Cardiff, which holds a large collection of volumes created by the Naturalists. The society is still active today and holds a yearly programme.

I have recently come across this page whilst working on some pages for the Cardiff Naturalists's Society 150th Anniversary. We once again had an exhibition, this time in the Cardiff Story Museum no big brass cabinets this time, but people enjoyed it. There is more information about our 150th Anniversary at Regards Andy - Former President Cardiff Naturalists' Society
