Description

A regimental drum of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers, dating from the late 19th century. The regiment has changed its name several times, reflecting the changing role of the regiment within the British Armed Forces. In 1877, the regiment accepted an offer to transfer into the Special Reserve section of the Royal Engineers, which gave it a far more active role in warfare.

this drum has a wooden shell and hoops, with ropes for tightening the skin.
