SAINT PIERRE/MAROC, sister ship to the SAINT JACQUES sunk on 15 September 1917
Description
This photograph shows the SAINT PIERRE as sister ship to the SAINT JACQUES, which later had its name changed to the MAROC. The SAINT PIERRE was completed in 1908 and the SAINT JACQUES in 1909. Six other similar vessels were ordered by the Société Navale de l'Ouest (SNO) from the shipyard Ateliers et Chantiers de France at Dunkirk. Each vessel had a gross tonnage of 3,500 tons and they were named the SAINT ANDRE, SAINT JEAN, SAINT LUC, SAINT MARK, SAINT PAUL, and SAINT THOMAS. Source: Musee Portaire Dunkerque
