Earliest memories of television for this interviewee was seeing a faraway land and the news of the assassination of J F Kennedy. The effect of television on society is spoken of, and the tendency to stay at home in the evenings following the arrival of television. He discusses the effect of seeing comedy programmes on his life. Rugby and the effect of winning and losing on society is mentioned. He remembers the Miners' Strike and the battle between Arthur Scargill and Margaret Thatcher - one wanting to take down the government and the other wanting to break the unions. The Investiture is spoken of and the Young Farmers using it as a theme for a competition, and the Prince's attempt to learn Welsh.
