Description

Steve Hartley is the founder of Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre, New Quay. He now runs Dolphin Survey Boat Trips, however previously fished the waters of Cardigan Bay.

A member of our Living Seas Team sat down with Steve, to discuss his memories of life in the Bay. Here, he discusses changes in the Bass since the 1980's.

Recollection as follows:

"And things like the bass.

I remember, oh what would that be now…40 years ago…they guys here suddenly got into netting bass. All the local boys had a few nets out. I had a long wheelbase Land Rover at the time, and, once a week, I’d go down to Milford with it full – full of boxes of bass and mullet.

And that, you saw then, that that was flat out for a while, and then suddenly stopped because that run of fish had been caught."
