The Inscription reads: ‘To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Amy Rosina Coombs who died 14th October 1917 this was erected AD 1918 RIP‘ her children will rise up and call her blessed’ The text is taken from Proverbs 31:28. Amy Coombs died aged only 42 leaving behind five children aged 8 to 19 years of age. Her husband George was a corn merchant and the family lived at 241 Cowbdridge Road, Canton, Cardiff.
