Thomas Matthews of the South Wales Borderers
Description
Thomas Henry Matthews of Treboeth, Swansea, was a miner before the war, but within a month of the start of hostilities he had joined the 3rd (King's Own) Hussars. However he soon transferred to the South Wales Borderers, and this photograph shows him in SWB uniform. Thomas is one of the 79 men commemorated on the Roll of Honour at Caersalem Newydd Baptist Chapel, Treboeth.
