Archibald Alfred Lee (known to his family as Archie) of Croesyceiliog, near Cwmbran, was born on 7 May 1898 and initially joined the South Wales Borderers (probably in September 1916) before transferring to the Machine Gun Corps. This photograph shows him and two of his sisters (he had three elder sisters - it is not known whether the photo shows Renee, Millie or Mollie).
