Archibald Alfred Lee (known to his family as Archie) of Croesyceiliog, near Cwmbran, was born on 7 May 1898 and initially joined the South Wales Borderers (probably in September 1916) before transferring to the Machine Gun Corps. He wrote this letter to his aunt, Mary Brown, on 21 February 1918. He was killed in action on 10 April 1918.
