Some of our daily newspapers are complaining that taxes in Allegheny County are higher than in any
other count5r of the state, and they blame the leaders of the Democratic Party for that. Scores, if not hundreds, of Welshmen work in the tin mills of this city, most of those who have come from the old counby. It is sad that only one of every five of them attend any Welsh chapel, nor any other ehapel. It is difficult to believe that so many of our compatriots, most of whom having had so many privileges in Wales, are contempfuous of the religious privileges of this crty. It is a comfort that those who are in our midst who claim religion do that beyond any double and their hearts are in the cause. W. J. Jones and Thomas H. Lewis spent a lively three days in New York the week before last. [A poem follows] Friends of the musical Morris Stephens are glad to hear that he has been chosen as one of the musical adjudicators at the Wilkesbarre Eisteddfod.
