Wil Ifan Memorial Service
Description
Rev. William Evans (1883-1968), the poet, broadcaster and Archdruid of Wales known as Wil Ifan, was the minister at the English Congregational church in Bridgend, Glamorganshire from 1909 to 1917 and again from 1925 to 1949. Reproduced here is the Order of Service for his Memorial Service at the chapel on 28 July 1968. The service was conducted by the current minister, Rev. J. Lloyd Woodhouse, who is shown in the photograph with Wil Ifan's daughter, Mrs Mari Glyn Jones, who unveiled the memorial plaque.The Memorial Plaque was dedicated and unveiled at a special service on Sunday 21st October 1973, part of the Centenary Celebrations of the United Reformed Church (formerly the English Congregational Church) in Bridgend, and the photograph was taken on that occasion.
