David Dudley Royal Regiment of Wales
This collection of photographs and video film, showcases the military service of Welsh solider David "Dai" Dudley of west Wales. Dai served for over twelve years in the RRW, between 1979 and 1992. He experienced postings to BAOR Germany, throughout the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Canada. This included multiple tours of Northern Ireland. Dai offers an interesting first hand account of the life of an infantry soldier serving in a line regiment during a period known as the Cold war. Viewers should note that Dai was asked by the interviewer to refrain from including mention of certain events where himself and his colleagues were exposed to trauma, where serious injury or fatality occurred. This was a policy agreed beforehand to protect him from re visiting painful trauma memories. Viewers are also requested to consider that some of the information Dai refers to in his account, refers to un-named third parties and are un-corroborated, unsubstantiated conversation. The information was included, as it does offer the researcher an idea of how such information may have affected the thoughts and emotions of those soldiers deployed in the field.
