Description

Short interview conducted by Vicky MaCdonald during the ‘Longest Yarn’ with visitors that shared personal memories and family stories in reaction to the exhibition. The Longest Yarn exhibition was a month-long tribute to the War Effort behind the D-Day Landings of 1944 - displaying a 3D tapestry depicting D-Day in 80 panels – was held at the Holy Trinity Church, Llandudno (October 2–27, 2024).

Nigel Morgan recounts his father Hugh Morgan’s WWII experiences as part of the Royal Army Service Corps, including a close call during D-Day when he narrowly escaped a mortar strike that killed his comrades. Despite Hugh's toughness, Remembrance Day always moved him deeply, and it was the only time Nigel saw him cry. Hugh rarely discussed the war, but Nigel honors his memory by restoring his medals and plans to wear them on Remembrance Day. Reflecting on his father’s bravery, Nigel expresses regret for not learning more about his wartime stories earlier.
