Longest Yarn Llandudno – Gathering Threads of D-Day

The Longest Yarn Llandudno project by Friends of Mostyn Street brought a month-long Llandudno tribute, October 2–27, 2024, to the War Effort behind the D-Day Landings of 1944. As well as celebrating the skills of knitters and crafters to bring history to life, the project also used this opportunity to capture soon-to-be-lost memories of the wartime generation, broadening the understanding of D-Day’s impact on communities across North Wales and the North West.

By capturing capture oral testimonies and related material, this initiative will ensure a lasting legacy by preserving these stories for future generations and making them accessible to the community, schools, nursing homes, and wider audiences.
